We are firmly confident that we will definitely win this prevention and control fight against COVID-19 if people across the nation join together as one and unite our efforts under the sophisticated deployment of the CPC Central Committee.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, every member of the party branch of Blossom & Credit Law Firm actively responded to the Party’s call, especially WANG Yuting and BAI Xiaoming. WANG Yuting, as a CPC member, actively participated in the anti-epidemic activities and wrote down her own experiences and feelings during the COVID-19 pandemic; and BAI Xiaoming, as an active applicant for Party Membership, reported his thoughts to the Party during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is the right time to rise up as long as we do not knuckle under hardships. At the critical moment when people across the nation work together as one to overcome the difficulties and fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, the CPC Central Committee, by sizing up the situation with great foresight and comprehensive planning, held a meeting on coordinating epidemic prevention and control with economic and social development on February 23, which fully reflected the Party’s outstanding ability to manage risks and bear responsibilities. At the meeting, General Secretary XI Jinping delivered an important speech that scientifically summarized various COVID-19 prevention and control actions and clearly put forward key tasks and important measures to coordinate epidemic prevention and control with economic and social development. From General Secretary’s speech, I felt the high sense of responsibility of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core and contemporary CPC members towards the people’s health, the preparedness regarding proactive measures for economic development, and the role of the great power in maintaining global security, which warmed our hearts and boosted our morale. It strengthened my confidence in winning the prevention and control fight against COVID-19.
I. Feeling the aim consciousness that “Life is of paramount importance” from the speech. This epidemic is both a serious crisis and a major test. General Secretary emphasized that the Chinese nation, despite experiencing many hardships in history, was never crushed, and instead, continued to grow and rise up in an accelerated manner from trials and tribulations. After the outbreak of COVID-19, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade XI Jinping at its core, as always taking as the primary political task safeguarding the physical health and life safety of the people, comprehensively strengthened the centralized and unified leadership in epidemic prevention and control through quick deployment with great attention, as to resolutely block the spread of the epidemic. It has been proved through practice that the CPC Central Committee’s judgment on the epidemic situation is accurate, and the measures taken are powerful and effective. While fully recognizing the achievements, General Secretary emphasized that we should be soberly aware that the current epidemic situation was still severe and complex. As grassroots CPC members, we are on the front line of COVID-19 prevention and control. Although the national situation is gradually improving, we still need to be highly vigilant against complacency, war-weariness, fluke mind, and slacking mentality. Otherwise, it will bring serious consequences, and even result in failure. We must firmly maintain our confidence in ultimate victory and make unremitting efforts in all of the prevention and control work by turning pressure into strength and never declare success until we achieve complete victory.
II. Feeling the earnest hope of “taking development as the top priority” from the speech. Economic stability leads to overall stability while good development can guarantee a solid foundation. General Secretary pointed out in his speech that we can achieve the goals and tasks for economic and social development as long as we steadily resumed normal work and daily life by turning pressure into strength and adversity into opportunities, with reinforced efforts to stabilize the six fronts (employment, finance, foreign trade, inbound investment, domestic investment, and market expectations) and stronger policies. Currently, the economic fundamentals that will sustain long-term growth remain unchanged, hence the COVID-19 impact is temporary. These judgments, as strategically advantageous and scientifically accurate, not only guide us to understand the short-term effects objectively but also enable us to focus on long-term goals to seek opportunities from crises and turn crises into opportunities. After the outbreak of COVID-19, businesses of our lawyers were impacted and affected to a certain extent, and some of them cannot be carried out normally. However, as General Secretary said, as long as we can seek opportunities from crises and turn crises into opportunities by scientifically analyzing the current situation and changing our mindset with reasonable measures, such as full utilization of online office and work-from-home methods, we will definitely be able to eliminate the adverse effects of the epidemic, make up for lost time, and carry out necessary business well, thus ensuring both of epidemic prevention and control and business development.
III. Understanding the great power’s sense of responsibility for the international community that “our fates are closely intertwined” from the speech. Countries should respect others’ interests while pursuing their own and common interests of all. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, our country has taken unprecedented public health response measures that have achieved significant results in slowing the spread and blocking the rapid transmission of COVID-19. These series of measures have been widely praised by the international community and China has demonstrated its image as a responsible great power through practical actions. As UN Secretary-General António Guterres said, “I will express my gratitude to all the people in China who are sacrificing many aspects of their normal lives to prevent the virus from spreading to others”. China is not alone in this fight against COVID-19. At the same time comprehensively and effectively preventing and controlling the epidemic, China actively cooperates and exchanges information with the World Health Organization and the international community, striving to block the spread of COVID-19. Especially, when the epidemic is spreading to the world, though suffering significant losses, we have taken the initiative to provide a huge amount of assistance in terms of epidemic prevention materials and expert technology to countries such as Japan, South Korea, Iran, Italy, and Pakistan. We convey to the international community through practical actions that China is a responsible great power with interests closely connected with the world to build a human community with a shared future, thus establishing a good international image.
On March 12, the spokesperson of the National Health Commission said at the State Council’s press conference for the joint epidemic prevention and control mechanism that, in general, the peak of the current epidemic in China had passed, which was evidenced by the continuous decline of the number of new cases with the overall epidemic situation remaining at a relatively low level. I am firmly confident that as long as we rise to the challenge and work together under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, we will definitely be able to overcome COVID-19, maintain a good momentum of economic and social development, and achieve comprehensive victory in epidemic prevention and control as well as economic and social development.
